I have been a member of the Royal British Legion Riders Branch since I was 17 and ever since I have stood in shopping centres and supermarkets collecting for the Poppy Appeal.

We recently approached Cardo to see if they could help and they said YES! So, for the ride we will be using the Cardo Packtalk Bold. This is a perfect type of system as we can create groups on the fly, connect with other coms systems, have an active range of 1,000 meters (up to 1,600 meters in perfect conditions) and mute people (I sometimes wish this function was not just in my helmet!).

When we first conceived the idea for Running the Standard there was one bike brand that came to mind. One brand that is known for quality, performance, style and, above all, being British. I am delighted to announce that we have teamed up with Triumph Motorcycles!

This is something we, as bikers, don’t like to think about - crashing. Although thankfully this is a rare occurrence it is still a common enough event for us to spend hundreds, if not thousands, of pounds on protective kit. If you are riding on your own and have an accident, it is imperative for the emergency services to have as much information as possible. Hopefully you will be able to tell them, but what happens if you can’t? This is why we are using CRASH Cards.

I have always found planning a route fairly easy, from trips into Europe to ride outs for work; I know the point where I will be starting, and I know where I will finish. However, unlike a normal ride this one has 93 points (counties) to ride to and this I think this will make the ride easier to plan as I am no longer riding between two points and trying to take the best route. I will be using a dot-to-dot method, ticking off each county as I go.
